  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 cup diced celery

  • 2 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 3/4 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/2 tsp dried marjoram
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat 1 tablespoon olive oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned; drain excess fat.
  2. In the same pot, add another tablespoon of olive oil and sauté chopped onion, carrots, and celery until tender (about 6 minutes). Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Pour in chicken broth, tomato sauce, water, diced tomatoes, sugar, dried herbs, salt, and pepper. Return cooked beef to the pot and bring to a boil; reduce heat to simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Cook ditalini pasta according to package instructions; drain.
