- 300 g Cavatappi Macaroni
- 5 Onions (thinly sliced)
- 1/2 cup Beef Broth
- 3 cups Heavy Cream
- 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 1/2 Baguette (for breadcrumbs)
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Pepper
- 2 tsp Oregano
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika
- 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
Instructions
- Thinly slice the onions and caramelize them in olive oil over medium heat for 30–40 minutes until golden brown. Stir occasionally and add beef broth if necessary.
- In the same skillet, prepare the béchamel sauce by melting butter, whisking in flour, and gradually adding heavy cream until thickened.
- Stir in two-thirds of the caramelized onions into the béchamel sauce along with seasonings and Parmesan cheese.
- Cook cavatappi macaroni until al dente and mix it with the sauce.
- Transfer to a baking dish, top with remaining onions and breadcrumbs, and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–15 minutes until golden brown.
