- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup milk (any kind)
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp granulated sugar (for sprinkling on top)
- 1 tsp milk (for top)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp melted butter (or vegan butter)
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, spices, salt, and sugar.
- Cut cold butter into the dry mixture until it resembles small peas.
- Stir in milk and molasses until just combined; do not overmix.
- Shape into a circle on a parchment-lined cookie sheet and flatten to about 3/4" thick.
- Brush the top with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
- Cut into wedges and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
