Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Instant Yeast
  • 1 cup Cold Whole Milk
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 6 oz Chocolate Batons
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Milk
  • 1 cup Confectioners' Sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Gradually add cold milk until the mixture forms a dough. Knead until smooth.
  2. Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Mix butter with flour to create a spreadable layer and place it on half of the dough before folding it over.
  3. Roll out again into a rectangle and fold into thirds like a letter; repeat this process two more times to develop layers.
  4. Cut the final rolled dough into triangles and place chocolate batons at the base before rolling tightly from base to tip.
  5. Place rolled croissants on a lined baking sheet, allowing them to rise in a warm area for about 2 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Brush each croissant with a mixture of beaten egg and milk; bake for approximately 20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before dusting with confectioners' sugar.
